Cat in a shirt!

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

My cat Slinky had a small cyst removed and came home from the vet in a shirt! She doesn’t seem to mind it at all, this may be the start of a new fashion phase for her…

Friday, December 21st, 2007

This is a cool site about cats with jobs (at bodegas, bookstores, etc.). Very cute!

LCRW is a fiction zine edited by Kelly Link & Gavin J. Grant of the venerable Small Beer Press and I am very pleased to be a part of it! I did a one page comic from the world of Dolltopia. Here is a snippet. You can order it at this link.

Here’s a shot of the 2nd maneki neko painting I did for the upcoming show at The showroom in NYC. The show will be in January, I’ll be posting details as we get closer.

Dolltopia update

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

I’ve been feverishly working away on Dolltopia and am making great progress. Dolltopia 2 will be ready for MOCCA 2008 (and possibly Dolltopia 3)! Here is one of my fave panels (before the toning).

Presenting my first painting in years! It will be part of an art show opening in January at The Showroom. The theme is Maneki Neko (Japanese Lucky Cats) so I thought it was perfect that I was invited to take part in this show. I love Maneki Neko and have a few of them in my room. I haven’t painted in a long while and it was fun (and a little intimidating) to get back into. I have plans to get more paintings happening, especially some blow-ups and take-offs on my comic panels that I particularly like.

Garden update!

Sunday, September 3rd, 2006

I’ve been working on some new comic ideas and doing lots of house stuff all weekend. After yesterday’s rain I went out and checked on my terrace garden. I have a few flowers here and there including portulaca (which has been growing weed-like in a few of my pots), petunia, and my heliotrope is coming back. The Coleus I planted about a few weeks ago is popping up nicely! The big news is peaches! My peaches have matured and are poppin off the tree. My mom suggested I bake a peach crumble, so I did. I improvised since I didn’t have flour around, I used pancake mix instead combined with melted butter and sugar (I didn’t have brown sugar on hand). Worked like a charm!
I also took some new pics of Slinky!

Slinky!

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

You may have heard about my cat, Slinky. Here are finally some pics. It’s hard to get good pics of her since she usually blinks at the flash. But I got some winners the other day. Awww…
