Angoulême report 2012!

I’m back from another glorious trip to France for the Angoulême comics Festival, and this time, afterwards I traveled to Belgium (just for fun) along with Japanese cartoonist Yuuko Koyama! We did miss Tim Fish who couldn’t make it this time thought T_T

It was loads of fun to reunite with the SCARCE gang at Angoulême and having Yuuko along made it even better! Major shout-outs to Xavier for making it all happen, we love you!

The highlights for me this year were meeting comics icons Aline Kominsky-Crumb and Atsushi Kaneko (manga author of Bambi and Her Pink Gun).

(with and Aline Kominsky-Crumb – Yay!)

Both were unexpected surprises, and they were both so sweet!

And of course there was the cheese.

I had to take Yuuko for raclette at La Calandrine. So good!

We also had fouees and hot wine (breakfast of champions!) as well as the usual sweet stops at Parfums Sucres!

Our fave British comics group Azfab were there too!

After our stay in Angoulême, Yuuko and I took off for Belgium. Which is basically a chocolate and beer paradise. Seriously – you must go, it’s like Candyland has come to life! Brussels also has major comics history and museums for comics and chocolate and many other things, so what are you waiting for? I’ll be posting an in-depth look at their sweets at City Sweet Tooth soon.

Here I am inside La Cure Gourmande, one of the many amazing sweets shops. Our trip to Belgium was really too short, so I hope to return again soon!
