Cat Tongues!
Sunday, January 25th, 2009Rock and Roll Book Catch-up
Sunday, January 25th, 2009I’ll start this off with a photo I took at Louis Vuitton where the window is celebrating late designer Stephen Sprouse, noted for his collaborations with Debbie Harry. Great window!
I’ve still been reading plenty of books, just not posting about them. Sorry! Anyway, I wanted to post about Debbie Harry Sings in French, a YA novel about a punky straight, yet cross-dressing teen boy. His girlfriend Maria helps him cross dress as his idol, Debbie Harry and it is a fun and touching book. Much recommended!
I also just finished reading The Heebie-Jeebies at CBGBs: A Secret History of Jewish Punk, which has a lot of interesting info about the history of NY punk covering people like Lou Reed, The Dictators, The Ramones, and much more. I found it very interesting and it also gets into Jewish American history a bit. Also recommended!
The Astromonger’s Space Monster Challenge!
Friday, January 16th, 2009This group show is up from Jan. 16-18 and includes pieces by comics folks such as myself, Matt Loux, and Richard Sala among many others. The theme is obscure mythical creatures and the artists were forbidden to research them visually, so they are drawn purely from imagination.
Her’s a pic of Matt Loux and I with our pieces!

Here’s something from 2008 I forgot to post about. I did an illustrated article on throwing a tea party for the November 2008 issue of the awesome girls’ manga magazine, Shojo Beat. You can buy it by clicking here!
